This Privacy Policy describes how Tripcheep ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you visit tripcheep.com (the "Site"). By using the Site you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

We do not require you to create an account. The search inputs you enter (origin, destination, dates, traveler count) are transmitted to our redirect service and then to partner booking sites. We do not permanently store your search inputs on our servers.

Automatically collected information

When you visit the Site, our servers and analytics tools may automatically collect:

  • IP address (used for approximate geolocation to pre-fill your origin city)
  • Browser type, operating system, and device type
  • Pages viewed, links clicked, and time on site
  • Referring URL
  • Search terms entered in our widget

Cookies and local storage

We use cookies and browser local storage for the following purposes:

  • Nearest-city cache: we store your nearest city (from the geolocation lookup) in localStorage for up to 24 hours so we can pre-fill the origin field on return visits without a new network request.
  • Consent preference: we store whether you have accepted or declined analytics cookies.
  • Analytics: Google Analytics 4, Meta Pixel, and Microsoft Clarity set cookies to measure site usage, subject to your consent.
  • Advertising: third-party ad networks may set cookies to serve relevant advertisements.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Operate and improve the Site and search widget
  • Pre-fill your origin city for a faster search experience
  • Measure and analyze site traffic and user behavior (analytics)
  • Count clicks and conversions for affiliate commission reporting
  • Display relevant advertisements
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Sharing your information

When you run a search, your search parameters (origin, destination, dates, travelers) are passed to partner sites (e.g., KAYAK) via URL query parameters. Those partners' privacy policies govern how they handle your data once you arrive on their site.

We may share aggregated, anonymized analytics data with advertising partners. We do not sell your personal information.

We retain server logs for up to 90 days. Analytics data is retained per the default retention settings of each analytics provider (typically 14 months for GA4). Local storage items you create in your browser persist until you clear them or the TTL expires (24 hours for the geo cache).

The Site is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us at privacy@tripcheep.com and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
