How to find the cheapest flights

Airfare is one of the most dynamic prices in the economy — the same seat on the same flight can cost hundreds of dollars more or less depending on when you search, which days you fly, and how you compare. At Tripcheep, we cut through the noise by sending your search directly to KAYAK, which compares prices across more than 900 airlines and travel sites instantly.

Book in the right window

For domestic US flights, fares tend to hit their lowest point roughly 28 to 60 days before departure. Book inside two weeks and you'll typically pay 20–40% more as the cheapest fare classes sell out. For international trips, push that window to 2–8 months out, especially for summer Europe or holiday Asia travel.

Fly on the cheapest days

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday departures consistently undercut Friday and Sunday fares on the same route. Shifting your departure by even one day can save $50–$150 on popular domestic routes and significantly more transatlantic.

Compare nearby airports

Multi-airport metros give you extra leverage. New York travelers should compare JFK, Newark (EWR), and LaGuardia (LGA). Los Angeles has LAX, Burbank, Long Beach, and Orange County. Chicago has O'Hare (ORD) and Midway (MDW). The fare gap between airports in the same metro can easily exceed $100.
